You are undoubtedly raising very difficult questions. My opinion is that, even though scientific knowledge has dramatically improved in the last 3-400 years, we still know very little about this kind of matters. Just as an example, I would like you (and other people who might be interested, of course) to read a couple of lectures about science, universe and God, given by Professor Stephen Hawking: http://www.hawking.org.uk/lectures/puindex.html You have probably heard about Hawking. He is one of the most quoted physics in the world even though he sits in an invalid chair since when he was approx. 25 years old. He is even unable to speak and therefore needs a special computer to talk to his students at the Cambridge University. I have read two of his books and many of his articles and I recommend you to do the same. Once more, you'll discover how shortsighted human knowledge is, if compared to reality and the mysteries of the universe.
