Hi Mavrick, I have heard about the work that you and JR have been doing in the lives of those boys, and it lifts me up and inspires me. I have a boy in my life right now who has a great need, whos father wants nothing to do with him, and who is also in a fairly abusive situation. I understand what you are doing very well, because I am also being used by God in the same way. Something happened after church last sunday that really rocked my boat. The church service went great. My YF showed up with an adult friend of mine who has been helping him and his mom for years. It is sad that I now have quite an issue with this adult friend. Anyway, "S" (my YF), was just ecstatic with exitement. You see, he just loves to sit next to me and I myself get really excited durring the song and praise part of the service. I just LOVE exciting praise music, and our church is into a lot of great contemporary stuff. Too cool for words! Well, "S" has really caught my excitement and just loves to sit next to me and sing and clap and bounce up and down, just like I do. Who says church is borring? Obviously they have never sat next to me and "S"! It was durring that service, by the way, that I tried again to get through to the boy. And, praise God, it happened!!! I have made it a practice to just lean over and whisper into his ear, "God loves you so much, "S"!" Well, after the service, "S" looked up at me and said, "Chris, God loves....". I said, "God loves who, "S"?". Then he just about knocked me over when he said,"God loves ME!". Oh man, what a great thing!!! Well, after the service, we went over to my friend's place to do some dinner, and it was then that I saw how badly the boy has been treated by this person. I won't go into details, but if you like, ask Andy about what I am talking about, I do not mind if he fills you in. For now, let's just say that it is really, really bad. I left that night and then the next day (yesterday) I told my psycologist, Karen, all about it. Then I completely lost it right then and there wheen she said to me, "Does this remind you of how your own father treated you when you were young?" She was completely right about that....it did, and I just lost it. Anyway, you are certainly in my prayers, brother, and God bless you in what you are doing right now!
