Stress in our world

I think that the media we have these days has enormously exagerated the amount of stress that most people live under. Thirty years ago, entire treaties were negotiated and signed before the world knew anything about them. Today, nations converse with one another in the headlines of world news.

"North Korea refuses to talk to U.S." "U.S. considers monetary aid for North Korea." "North Korea willing to talk."

The average person feels themselves swept along in the powerful currents of political affairs, but is helpless to change them, barely able to keep his own head above water. Now, that creates a lot of stress.

But, I agree with you that living with a "secret" part of ourselves in a world that seems rabid about hunting down and killing childhood sexuality - to the extent that they will make victims of those who admit to loving children, ignoring evidence which shows that pedophiles are not the usual perpetrators of sexual crimes against children - living in that world is incredibly stressful.

I have relayed before my story of living in a small town where a group of concerned citizens kept tabs on my every move. The stress was so great that I was much more likely to commit a violent crime than I had been before I asked my pastor for help in dealing with my attraction to boys. I finally had to move, for the health and welfare of all concerned.

These days, I am changing the way I think. In an effort to find peace and reintegrate the two lives I have lived, I am beginning to see myself more as a celibate Christian man whose completely healthy sexuality tends to want to attach itself to any intimate relationship that I have. That should not be a surprise to anybody, really. I think that being at peace with myself is the first step to finding peace in the world.

It's great to see you again, Altima. I hope things are going well for you, regardless of the stress.

Peace,

Nate
