Yes, i've seen L.I.E. One of my friends was the script superviser on the film, and I got to view it before it came out. It's a great movie, especially for a those in this forum, but it's not the story I want to tell. I want to tell the story of an abusive man that society most recognizes as a 'pedophile', and then show that he is not a monster, but rather a person with his own weaknesses and needs the proper treatment. I've made decisions about my own film that many don't agree with. I'm ok with that. Once i'm not OK with it, i'll change the way i tell the story. You sum up L.I.E. as a 'compational portrayal'. Well my main character isn't compassionate. He is weak and selfish due to a crippling emotional injury from his father. I want the audience to feel his pain, and I don't wish to hide from showing that pain, because i feel it does the real life abusers and abused an injustice. |
