Happiness and L.I.E.

…the movie “happiness” also made an attempt at depicting a pedophile in a more humane light. I haven’t yet seen this movie but first heard about it in some of the reviews I read on L.I.E. I am currently tracking down the uncut DVD of L.I.E. to purchase as I understand it contains two audio commentaries, one by the director Michael Cuesta and one by Brian Cox, who plays the pedophile (for lack of a better term), that I would really like to listen to. At the same time, I’m going to try and get a copy of Happiness. The existence of that movie makes me think that some day they will get it right. Yes, we can both hold onto someday – though certainly not without its flaws (for example the ending), L.I.E. is a step in the right direction. I highly recommend it and hope you get a chance to see it. As for the good side? There’s always “The Man Without a Face” and “Hearts in Atlantis”. Both excellent movies, I own both. J Come away, O human child, to the waters of the wild, with a fairy hand in hand, for the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand. |
