First off, I don't know enough about adoptions to give any advice other than, talk to an expert, perhaps a lawyer.

As for controlling fantasies, my approach is to assume that there is some hidden message in them that my subconscious is trying to tell my conscious mind. I therefore try to analyze them. This defuses any threat of actually carrying them out because it turns them into a "microscope slide" of self-analysis.
