To answer your question about the Sacrifice of Christ, we need to look back in the O.T. and see what it says about the blood of the sacrifice. Please open your Bible and turn to Gen. 3:21. This is the very first sacrifice ever made. It was the result of the sin of Adam and Eve. Now look at Ex. 12:13. The blood is spread over the doorframes as a sign of the Jews obedience to God. Now look at 24:8 It is a sign of the Covenant with God. A sign of His faithfulness to the Jews. Now Lev. 17:11+12 The life is in the blood and it is given to make atonement for sins. Now Dut. 12:23 This shows the importance of the blood. This all tells of the importance of the blood on the eyes of the Lord, but of more importance is the obedience of the faithful followers of God. But let’s go back to Lev. 17:11. This verse tells us that the blood provides atonement for us. This is not the only verse that mentions this, but I am doing this off the top of my head and can’t recall the others. (Headaches can do that to me.) The point is that the blood is source of life for all creatures, including humans. It was used at the atonement for sin in the O.T. Now, taking both of these together, we see that a blood sacrifice was needed to atone for all the sins of mankind and that the sacrifice had to be done in obedience to God. There is also the fact that the sacrifice had to be pure, such as the spotless lamb, but that is another topic for another time. Jesus provided both the obedience and the blood in the His sacrifice.
