Kyle, It is still amazing to me that there are people in the world who are dealing with the same issues I am. It is obvious that you have had this on your mind for a while too. Thanks for the insights. Some other people have interpreted my post as wallowing in self-contempt, and this is an unfortunate reading. I've already dealt with my brief self-loathing period (which was before I knew the Man) in high-school. I don't have much time for that now, nor do I read that as the message of Christianity (although some pastors I've heard would seem to disagree). However, I think there is a fine line between 'healthy self-esteem' and full-on embracing our destructive tendencies. And like you seem to express for yourself, I am somewhere in the middle looking for the balance. Perhaps though, as you suggested, my fears of boylove in me are strong enough to prevent a possible relationship from forming if the conditions were right. That is something to think about, I'll have to trust God would make that clear. Thanks again for your response, our experiences seem quite similar- i'd like to hear more from you... -Jeremy |
