Personally, I think then Paul's understanding of the nature of things and God's truth falls a wee bit short!

There's a few churches I could think of that I wouldn't want to be in at the same time that you're saying that out loud!

Actually, it's an interesting question, and one that deserves to be asked just as much as the one about whether God is actually against homosexual relations. To what extent is the apostle's frail humanity expressed in their writings in the Scriptures? Certainly the apostles can be wrong. Peter was wrong about eating only "clean" food, and years after his revelatory vision, Paul still had to tell him off for doing it. Paul says of himself that his thoughts on divorcing a non-believing spouse are open to challenge.

This one's too big for me, I'm afraid, telling Paul his comments to the Romans are wrong. I'll have to go back to the desert for another forty years, maybe then I'll be up to the task.

BTW, out resident religion journalist was some time ago trying to get us to think about what the apostles knew about same-gender sex in their day.
