Hi. It is true that the love of a child is the purest thing in the world. A child loves unconditionally, and doesn't even think to notice the small things older and more "mature" people hold against us. It is strange, and unexplained, how a child manages to shoot straight for your heart with every word and every affectionate expression it produces. It is different with older people, the things we say to each other are often, for some reason, very strained and unclear. For most of us it seems to be hard to come out and simply say: "Man, I love you" - even if, by God, we really do. Your story touched me, as I am sure it touched anyone who read it. You are a very fortunate man, and I am sure you are aware of that. Your relationship with the boy, is priceless and rare - and as he is at a delicate age right now, I'm sure his stay with you will do him a lot of good. Kids his age really need to feel appreciated, loved, and that they belong somewhere where they're always welcomed and embraced. I know, for it is not long since I was at that very same age - and my life at the time (at least parts of it) is very fresh in my mind. I know I often had a problem with expressing my feelings towards people, and I was sometimes very defenseless when someone told me just how much I meant to them. I just didn't know what to say, or how to say it. It may even have been a little uncomfortable for me, but I'm sure glad that the people who made it clear to me just how much they loved me, did. It is a lot of help to know someone cares and that you're the center of somebody's universe. It gives your confidence a boost, and that is what kids that age need the most - confidence and to believe in themselves. To feel as if you're worth something, is what makes all the difference in young lives. Thank you for sharing that, Tde - and I hope your time with your "God Son" will be an enjoyable one.
