Welcome D -
I can only give you my opinion and be sure to state that it is not necessarily the combined voice of this forum. I am a very long standing poster on boychat, but have been uninvolved in the past year or so because the board was getting too large and unruly. I came here a few months ago for two reasons: a) I liked the small group and I think that people here are genuine and caring, as BC was once and b) I am in the process of a religious awakening.

I'm not sure what your motivation is to even visiting these forums, so maybe you can dig into that a bit. Usually there is a reason. There have been plenty of non-BL posters to boychat, and those who are able to express their reasons are usually welcomed (or they are determined to be predatory and asked to leave). I am a celibate boylover. I also did once try to change my orientation and it did irreperable damage to me, in many ways robbing me of my own desire to care and love. The therapy, which was voluntary (and expensive!) did give me some minor attraction to women, but I have no feelings of love for women the way that I do for boys. I don't think there is anything wrong with loving anyone. How could there be? Indeed it is a better choice to choose celibacy if your orientation conflicts with societal possibilities or with religious convictions, but I also respect the fact that not everyone can do what I do.

What you might find interesting is that I, just a few weeks ago, decided to break my celibacy, when an opportunity finally presented itself. It was at this very time that I had the religious awakening that I am having now. You might be inspired to know that I did not break that celibacy. Whether it was God's guidance that showed me the way or just dumb luck is still unknown to me. What I do know though is that there is a greater chance for life to improve by having found God, than by having had a few nights of fantasy come true.

You are not alone.

Ben
