it's worth thinking about

Hi there John Guard! Welcome aboard this exciting and scary journey of ours!

I like the way you're thinking there, about how Jesus was criticised for associating with "scum". Bach here has said before that he sees himself as a kind of "prophet", shaking the church from her complacency. That's a good work we can be involved in!

About fantasising over the kids, I reckon that's an issue that's worth dealing with. I think it can be easy for us just to say it doesn't matter. But then again Jesus said that even if we just think about adultery, it's the same as if we actually did it. I suppose we should not be slaves to sexual fantasies, even if only in our own head.

For me personally, I try to keep away from the pics, and succeed most of the time. But still, I find myself fantasising about my 15yo young friend, fantasising that we were together (I am geographically far from him at the moment) and were able to maintain an intimate relationship. I try to channel it so that it's not a complete surrender to lust, thinking what if homosexual unions were OK (long-term; I couldn't seriously contemplate a one-night stand being OK), then imagining us together in that context, where sex would be right. But is that really helpful in the long run? Isn't that precisely the sort of lusting in your heart that Jesus is talking about?

I hope others express their ideas too.
