Hello, again, John Guard! I know exactly what you mean about the human coining of the "Ten Commandments", which is what I was attempting to convey by putting the phrase in quotes. As the Bible tells us, "By your traditions you make void the commandments of God." When we speak of love with regard to God, we can never apply it to Him in the form of an adjective. It has to be a noun. It is not a description of Him…… it IS Him…… God IS Love…… unfailing, unconditional Love. It is beyond our natural comprehension to have such love. It must be infused in us by His Spirit. Until we attain to that kind of agape` love, it will always fail, no matter how much we don't want it to. This is what makes the cross an emblem, not only of His suffering, but of His love, and the crown of thorns an emblem of His kingship in overcoming the flesh through His love. Therein is the reason the traditional Christian endeavor has failed, and why people like you and me are not accepted by them. I love your insight, your comments and your spirit. They are inspirational and revealing to me, and anything but dogmatic. Please, keep them coming. love, Andy |
