Hi Jeremy, nice to see you back. I was starting to wonder where you had gone off to. I haven't seen that movie, though I've heard it's worth seeing. I remember Joseph Mazzello from Jurassic Park, he was certainly a cutie there. I remember being 14, I think back on it as my favourite year. Old enough to be fierce and independent to do what you want, young enough not to know the concerns of adult responsibility. I fell in love at 14, too - but with a girl! I remember it was so weird then later how quickly my ardour for the young girl fell away - after a couple of months of infatuation, it all passed suddenly in the course of one weekend! Actually falling in love with her dismissed an infatuation I had been having with a male friend since I was 13. And then later at 14 and going into 15, I became devoted to another male friend. Even rode all the way on my bike to his house, only to find he weren't there! The infatuation was more on my side, unfortunately. Unrequited love, would you say? I see what you mean, being closer to 30 than otherwise, and still being torn to pieces by the beauty of a 15yo. Still, I honestly think it's completely possible to be loved by a boy. It doesn't have to be one-sided. I've heard it said, and I think it makes sense, that any decent parent "falls in love" with his child, is absolutely crazy about him and would do anything for him. There can be healthy boyloving. Maybe it doesn't have the same kind of romance as a heterosexual affair, maybe you'd want that boy to always remain at your side, to become an equal best friend in his adulthood, but even if he has to move on, start his own family, the love between the two of you can be real. Don't disappear too far now, Jeremy, ya hear? Love, F.O.D. |
