thanks, FOD, and JOhn Guard for your responses. i would like to apologize for the way my post came across. it seems that more of the sexual direction is being pondered. i did not intend to show that any of these were sexual relationships. i merely was interested in some of the (apparently) intergenerational (that word seems so scientific, but it fits, so i will use it...) relationships in the bible. oftentimes i get so caught up in the sexual part of boylove that i can easily forget about the wonderful pleasure of just being in love, the great things like walking and talking, shooting pool and shooting the breeze, or driving around, or just hanging out. to me, those passages provide no clear indication of sexual activity, nor would i interpret them that way. it is enough for me to know that there were these kinds of relationships back then, and apparently the people involved were looking for the same answers many of us "socially and morally celibate" bl's are looking for today. thanks you both for your insightful thoughts, they have forced me to think, and that is a good thing- something i dont do enough...! He has the living water, and if we drink we shall never thirst again... scott |
