here are some verses that have been posted about, and I have more or less condensed the posts in to one. please let me know what you think. I was going to email this, but I don’t have Ben’s email and I figured it might be good to get many opinions. john guard, I read your post and I would be honored if you might share some background on original texts....thanks.

Luke 7:1-3
when Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. there a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. the centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.
Matthew 8:5-7
when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. Lord, he said, my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering. Jesus said to him, I will go and heal him.
the word that has been translated here as servant might actually be better translated in the sense not of a servant, but of a boy in a pederastic relationship with the centurion... does it startle you that this important man should send word to Jesus when his young lover, who was more than likely very important to him, fell sick and would most likely die?

1 Samuel 18
this is the familiar story of David and Jonathan. if one looks at the dates of when these two first showed up, something surprising shows up. Jonathan first shows up in chapter 13, commanding a thousand men. we will assume he is around 16-18. much younger, and he would not be in charge of that many men. ch. 13 is placed around 1087 BC, by the thomson chain reference bible. (thanks ken, I took this from your post...) later, when David shows up, in 17/18 (18 is where he first meets Jonathan) he is probably around 14-16. he was not yet considered a man, and was still watching sheep and making deliveries to his brothers at the war. 18, when Jonathan first sees him,
“he became one in spirit with David and loved him as himself.” the thomson reference places ch. 18 at 1063 BC, which is 24 years later. this puts Jonathan at least at forty, and maybe older. just think, a 40 year old man (or possibly older) sees a brave (and beautiful) young boy, and falls in love at first sight. sound familiar?

ezekiel 16
in this chapter, god gives ezekiel a vision of Jerusalem. he compares them to a female baby, who has been thrown out into a field. this chapter speaks of god loving that child, and raising it. eventually, His love also comes to include sexual love. the main verse here is 16:8: later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

song of songs 8:8-9
we have a young sister, and her breasts are not yet grown. what shall we do for our sister, for the day she is spoken for? if she is a wall, we will build towers of silver on her. if she is a door, we will enclose her with panel?
any thoughts on this one guys?

about irc, how does this Thursday night work for people, just for a trial run? how about 9:00 p.m. California time, and I think I have these straight, 10 mountain, 11 central, and midnight eastern. another possibility is an hour or two earlier, say 8/9/10/11. Ben, FOD, what time zones are you in? I am in eastern, but I don’t mind being up late. does anyone out there know how to set up a room, cuz i have no idea...
may His grace lift you up as it has me,
scott
