Hey scott -
Almost missed this post because the title was a little nebulous. I have an unusual work schedule which forces me into 6pm PDT (that's California time) as the latest possible choice on IRC (except for the weekends of course). I'll check in frequently today to see if you guys can move this to Friday or Saturday night (or earlier tonight).

The more that I read the bible and the more that I read these posts the more that I am absolutely convinced that boylove was present among kings and prophets alike. That sex-negativism is an American cultural anomoly is an unescapable fact. I also, however, find myself seeing in the bible what seems to fit into MY life. This is perhaps a dangerous situation. My love and admiration of Michael (one of the twins) seems to be very David and Jonathan like. Whereas there was no obvious evidence of sexual activity between David and Jonathan, I interpret their relationship to be like mine. I do fantasize about Michael ALOT...but when I am around him, I am not sexual in any way. Instead, with my outlet having already occurred the night before (so to speak), I only want to mentor him, to hear him laugh, to know how his day was and if he did well in school and if he is happy or sad or needs to talk or whatever. I do not know if, where I not a celibate BL, I would interpret the David and Jonathan story differently.

Another possibility is that God intentionally created ambiguity in the story, in a sense creating a parable for us to work on. Had God outright given us sex between two men in the bible, we would have the undisputed fact that homosexual activity is okay. For some, this would not be productive. On the other hand, had God outright condemmed every potential BL that we encounter in the bible, much of the mentoring and positive M/B relationships that have existed might not have taken place.

You are not alone.

Ben
