Alcoholism & BL - To Chris

Chris, I think you could give us some insight, since you are both a BLer and a recovering alcoholic. Many people make an analogy between BL and alcoholism, saying that both are sicknesses and addictions, and that acting in any way to satisfy them will result in strong desires for even more. Therefore, the reasoning goes, just like the alcoholic must stay away from all alcoholic beverages (and even from places that serve them), BLers must stay away from boys. What do you think of this analogy? What are the basic similarities and differences between the two? What (if anything) can be learned about BL from alcoholism, and what guidelines for behavior for the BLer (if any) can be extended from guidelines for the alcholic? Mark |
