Mark -
Even though this question was for Chris I thought that you might want to hear some additional perspective.

There was a time in my early twenties, a time when I was trying desperately to be 'cured' of BL that I found a 12 step program for those who were addicted to sex. It is a nationwide group going by SLA (Sex and Love Addicts annonymous). While most of the people were addicted to pornography, annonymous sex with strangers or something like that, my addiction to masterbation and boys seemed to me to fit into what they were doing. I can tell you that it was practically identical in concept to AA and that the progression of sexual addiction was very similar to the progression of alcaholism. So was the solution, as it turns out.

Your question about staying away from boys is a really hard one to have to face, but I think that I can suggest one difference between BL and alcaholism: BL is basically a form of LOVE and LOVE is something that God created and rejoices over. On the other hand, alcaholism is something that God always frowned upon. On the other hand, certain PRACTICES such as addictive masterbation, and annonymous sex are abuses of sexuality, are NOT love, are NOT sanctioned by God and therefore are more closely compared to alcoholism. I do not believe in any way that Christianity is going to help me to love boys any less. Every 'solution to BL' that I found before I came to God included giving up boys. I don't need HELP with boys, I need HELP with addictive behavior.

I hope that I haven't stolen any of Chris' thunder. Just thought you might want some additional feedback.

You are not alone.
