Pray for me; + msg to Ben

Submitted by d on July 12 1999 at 18:50:27

[I know this isn't a general prayer forum, but I need prayer.]
[Ben - read this, and the notes to you at the bottom.]

First, pray for me about addiction. In late may I had a long talk with my minister about my being in the boylove forums. The upshot was he wanted me to leave (among other things, there was an addiction involved). I pretty much left immediately. I have come back to look for specific posts and in a couple cases make a post for a specific purpose. Lately, the addictive draw is coming back, pray that it abates.

Also, pray for me and a time of trial that I am in. That meeting with the minister set in motion an interesting chain of events which involve a lifestyle adjustment that I am not really looking forward to. The next 3-4 months will be one long challenge and I will need lean on God big-time. This challenge may become a lifetime challenge. Pray that I remember where to draw strength from. I may explain this in more detail on BC in a few months, or I may not (it is really a private matter and not BC-relevant, but I suspect a few percent of the 3000+ BC readers, or a few percent of any population that large, could directly benefit from my story). If I post it, I will post a pointer here. A few BCers know some details but I have asked them to keep quiet about it for now; one of them may be able to help me through it. I also have my family, my ministers, and peers on and off the net to hold my hand (to borrow a phrase I think Ben came up with, I am not alone).

Ask your churches to pray for me, particularly on the second issue (on the first, simply ask them to pray that I will avoid the temptation of addiction).

Ben:

I skimmed through the subject lines and found your post about being babtized earlier this month. I and others have been praying for this since Feb/March. I will let them know the prayers have been answered.

Also Ben:

You have recently had a major change in your life (giving your life to Christ is much bigger than what I'm facing). If you feel up to it, I think I could use your experience on my support team. Don't do this unless you have lots of spare emotional cycles and someone you can go to if my problems overwhelm you (a deacon is good for this). If you are willing and able to do this (and have a publishable email address), send me some email. If your church has more than a couple hundred people, odds are one of them is walking or has walked the path I face.

I'll probably read replies here (if any) later this week, but the best way to reach me is email.

In the love of Christ,
-d (david_tx on IRC, although I don't use IRC much anymore)
