Heather - So, according to the denominations that make up two-thirds of the world's Christians, neither of us is following Christ the way he meant for us to do. Without passing judgement on you or on other Christians here, I would agree with this above statement. Because two thirds of the world's Christians have adjusted the message of Christ to fit into their comfortable lives, does not make them correct. Christ warned against division in the church and of following false teachings. 1 Corinthians 12:25 (English-NIV) so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If Christ started the religion, and if most of the religion doesn't even follow the original message, then what you have is a different religion, not Christianity. I find it frustrating that the modern world considers concensus to be fact particularly when related to religion, which carries a history far greater than that of what we consider today to be the state of progress. You are not alone. Ben |
