Hi Ben,

I think I'm going to have to call you on this one, my friend. Believe it or not, there IS a devil, Satan if you will. Also, believe it or not, the actual Biblical references to him are somewhat sparse. Look up Job 1:6, Zec. 3:2, Mat. 12:26 and 16:23, Mark 4:15, Luke 10:18 and 22:3, Romans 16:20, 1Cor. 5:5, 2Cor. 11:14 and 12:7, 1 Ti. 1:20, Rev. 12:9, 20:2 and 20:7. All of these passages refer to a being called "Satan".

This evil being was an angel, created by God. In fact, he was supposed to be God's greatest and most important angel....until he and some of his buddies rebelled against God and were thrown out of Heaven.

Now I know this all sounds like some kind of perverted fairy tale but I see no reson to disbelieve it. It makes sense to me that if there is an all omnipresent, omnipotent, being of pure good whom we call "God", and if His word says another being exists who is purely evil, then why shouldn't this being exist. If God's word says he does, then, indeed, he does. AND it IS this evil being who is responsible for the evil that exists in this world. Anyways, this is what I believe.

However, Ben, I WILL agree with you about what you said about people. I truly believe this as well...there ARE no "evil" people. There are people who fall for the devil's lies and tricks and temptations, and because of this they (we) do some rotten and yes, downright evil things. But God CREATED us all to be good, and we are basicly good. A lot of times God (and our moms) might be the only one(s) to see this goodness, but it still DOES exist in us all.

That's what I believe about this subject (in actually more than a nutshell).

You brother in Christ,
Chris
