Gerald -

the majority of BLs I know all come from a Catholic background. I have a grave suspicion that there is a connection between the sex-prohibition of the catholic church and the amount of BLs who have a catholic background.

I believe that this is true. However, I also know quite a few BLs who were not brought up Catholic (such as myself) and who masterbated at will as children. I began masterbating at 11 without any restriction and also became a BL. Either there are multiple reasons why one might end up where we are or there is no correlation between sexual restriction/permissiveness as children and pedophillia. The only thing that we actually shared was that we both experienced an extreme (you extreme guilt and restriction, and me, no information and no restriction). Perhaps the best possible thing that a parent (particularly a dad) can do is to talk to a boy, to give him the information and the ability to communicate about his sexuality. Probably if you were told to try not to masterbate, but also that you would be forgiven (because of the blood of Christ) if you did, then you would not have been so tortured with fear and guilt. And if I had been told that masterbating too much was not a good idea (or even that it was for thinking about girls....not boys), even though I didn't have Christ in my life at the time, maybe it would not have done so much damage to me.

It is a fascinating study. Just be careful not to conclude that the Catholic restriction on masterbation is unequivocably wrong.

You are not alone.

Ben
