Hey Don - Thanks for sharing your time at camp. I also had the pleasure of being a counselor for a one week Christian camp this summer. Because my church is fundamentalist, I didn't run into the kind of problems that you experienced with that 13 year old that you mentioned. If a kid swore at this camp, he'd never hear the end of it. What came out, instead, are more covert types of sin such as anger, jealousy, selfishness and lack of faith. Helping the kids to see what God wants for their lives, and beginning to offer them an understanding of just how far God is willing to go to have them love him, was the main focus of the camp. I've been very committed to staying pure since I became a Christian. Like you, being at camp actually helped me in many ways. My attraction is to younger boys, around 11 or 12. Yet when I am deeply involved in helping them, nurturing them and teaching them to be spiritual, it makes no sense for me to feel lustful for them. Yes, a bare young chest will always be a beautiful sight for me to see, but I do believe that God will help us to keep our desires in check. You are not alone. Ben |
