scott - Thanks for this great topic. It is paradoxical that so many people lose faith in God because of ways that he does NOT deliver in their lives. Things go wrong and people assume that God has left them instead of trying to find out what they are supposed to learn from the experience. God humbles us in our lives until we come to him for help. Certainly we as BLs understand this all too well. The good news is that God blesses us tremendously and I am grateful, beyond words for what God has done for me. I am thankful for Jesus, who has covered up my sins most of all and am thankful to be included in God's Kingdom. Beyond that thought, God has blessed me with the twins in my life, a circumstance that I never could have dreamed would occur. I can remember when I first met them, being astounded at how beautiful they were and at how this beauty could actually be in MULTIPLES! I remember the fleeting moments of getting to see them when they attended soccer practice. To think that I am now THE most important non-parent adult in their lives! It's an incredible gift. I love them so much that I thank God DAILY for putting me so deeply into their lives. I am thankful to God for calling me and for calling me in a way that I would hear. I am thankful for my church who supported and encouraged me, even through heavy persecution. I am thankful to God for helping me break out of a life of sin and loneliness, into a life of hope and love. I am also thankful to God for putting a woman into my life who maybe someday will be my life long partner. I'm not sure if this will ever happen, because I don't know if God intends me to be able to function as a heterosexual. But whatever the destiny, God is in control of it. I thank God for calling me to work with children in the church and for working through me to bring many children to faith. Our God is a downright awesome God. To him all the glory! Amen :) Love, Ben |
