god is a great god

i just wanted to say thank you to the Lord for being there all the time for each and every one of us. He is incredible! He is the best boylover there could ever be...which gives us a great example of how to love our boys. a specific praise is from this summer. one night i was roused from my bed at midnight by the director's wife. we quickly gathered several other strong people, and ran up a steep mountain path in the dark. about sixty feet down from the top, on a steep slope of loose rock, we evacuated a 11 y/o boy who had fallen over a cliff shortly before. as we carried him down the mountain, we surveyed his injuries and were not even sure whether he was still alive. almost near the bottom, i felt my eyes start to tear up as i watched his lifeless body. suddenly, i felt a small hand reach out and grab my finger. i looked down, and his hand was wrapped around my hand as i held his stretcher. listening to his cries of pain, it was all i could do not to start myself. the next few hours burn into my mind with the uncertainty, the fear that he would die, the pain i felt as i watched this young angel suffer, and the guilt that somehow i should have done something more...although i did everything that i could. this story, fortunately, has a happy ending. the boy has since made an almost complete recovery. he lacks some short term memory, but doctors expect that to come with time. considering the extent of his injuries, and the rapid progress he made in the first two days, i can only praise my Father in heaven for his healing hand. there was a huge circle of people praying those first two days, and the Lord reached down His grace and rained it upon the boy, and his family. the doctors later said that they allmost never see such a complete and rapid recovery from such severe injuries. i thank Him and praise Him for healing the boy, and for allowing me to be touched by Him, and for allowing me to serve Him as best i can. i thank Him and praise Him for filling my heart with the peace that i need so badly- the peace that comes from knowing Him with my entire heart and mind and soul. we are truly not worthy of our God, which amazes me even more when He does miracles like this. would anyone else like to share a praise? i think it would be an incredible testimony if some of us could share how God has recently touched us. scott |
