The subjective truth of faith, the objective truth of knowledge..

My experience in the church and being literally surrounded by christians..
(god help me ;) taught me that belief and knowledge, and faith and knowledge, are opposing forces in the reality of one's own mind and the truth of reality..

Christians all too frequently and subjectively practice belief and faith while disregarding the empirical value of knowledge and objective consideration of evidence..

It's an age old problem..

Belief will always be inferior to knowledge because knowledge is evidencial and certain while belief is mearly faith often time put forth as truth, which is opaque at best..

Faith does indeed offer truth to the faithful.. it shelters one from that which offends the senses.. but faith is not necessarily truth based on knowledge and pursuit of hard certainty.. belief offers harborage for the faithful and it's blissful denial of knowledge is evident..

Paul wrote to the Corinthians.. "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise"..

..and the practice of Christian denial has occured ever since..

honesty..
