Dear honesty,

What objective evidence do you believe Christians frequently disregard? If you're talking geological evidence vs. a 10,000 year-old earth position, I agree that some Christians place their literalistic reading of Genesis over and above the generally accepted physical evidence. On the other hand, these folks are a tiny (but vocal) minority in Christianity.

I urge you not to be too hasty in rejecting the personal element in knowledge. Do you know that your parents love you, or do "just" believe it?

Similarly, a touch of humility as regards the claims of "knowledge" might be appropriate. Scientific theories go in and out of vogue, yet each theory is based on empirical evidence. What seems laughable to us now was once cutting edge "knowledge."

Your point about the unexamined nature of many Christians' beliefs is valid, but that doesn't exempt materialists or agnostics from epistemological critique.
