Rab - Welcome to cblf. You are called for the same reason that anyone would be called: God loves you and wants a relationship with you. Beyond that, if you have faith and follow God, he will have an incredible plan for your life: Jeremiah 29 11For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I certainly can relate to the feeling of trying to resist your desires and the constant rebounding of those desires, sometimes to a greater degree each time. I have been that route many times in my life. I have also been the route of letting myself enjoy virtually what ever I want. My life was far WORSE when I followed that course. Usually, when we try to rescue ourselves on our own steam, we fail miserably. I do not believe that we, alone, have the ability to change who we are. God does have that ability though, but we have to have faith in him and his ability to change our lives. I am struggling considerably with this notion, trying to have the kind of faith in God to change me that God wants me to have. You are not alone. Ben |
