Certaintly most people "look out for their own". I'm not going to put the needs of a [generic] woman ahead of a [generic] man just because she's a member of a class that I want to hop in bed with. But I will put the needs of "the woman I love" or even "a man, woman, or child I love as a friend" ahead of just about everyone else (except maybe other family members and loved ones). Funny thing though, men tend to elevate woman ("woman and children first" the saying goes) but I don't see women elevating men. Cultural bias saying women "need help" or are "more fragile"?
