Hello Perp. Something I can relate to. Probably most boylovers...someones son being closer to them than to the parents. If I were you I wouldnt say one word to the father!!!!!!!!! And definatly dont ask him if he has any ill feelings about it. It opens the door for his pride to take over and tell you he wants his son back...in other words...stop treating my son like yours. Maybe even "No, I dont feel comfortable having my son like you so much, now get out!" Yikes, worst case scenario... Maybe you could try to integrate the father into some of you and Ds activities. Or when D gets home from being somewhere, school or whatever, three days out of the week make sure your not there to greet him if his father is there too. I ruined, I think, a friendship I had with someone because of overkill. The father didnt mind that his son had grown so close to me it was the mother. To make this long and painful story short...she made it so I left one day and never came back. Michael is 19 now so this was some time ago but I think he probably had a lot of pain to deal with and I know I did only because I was too in love to see the inevitable shaping up. If I had it to do over again the one thing I would do differently is to use restraint. To let Michael have days where he didnt see me. Anyway, the main thing is not to lose D. Sometimes the best way is to loosen up your grip. Good luck to you!
