Trying to be clearer

Ben,

The thing that offended me was the way you seemed to suggest that Mark doesn't believe in the Bible because he interprets one passage differently than you. It is not at all obvious to me that because I do not accept Leviticus or Paul's statements on homosexuality it invalidates my attempts to follow Jesus Christ. And those attempts are based on biblical texts.

Jesus, as you well know, fulfilled the old Jewish laws so that the Levitican laws were not needed for the most part.

Which parts of those laws are still needed and observed? Aside from homosexuality interpretations, that is.

If God were standing in front of you with a loaded gun, you might be more inclined to not sin. When we sin, we doubt God just enough to allow ourselves to blow it. Fortunately, we are forgiven when we blow it, because of the sacrifice that Jesus made.

I do not refrain from sin because I am afraid of God, I refrain from sin because I love Jesus.

I think this discussion is really important, and I would like to move the thread to the top of the board. I really do want to hear more from you. Sometimes I don't quite understand where others are coming from on this topic.

Peace of Christ,
Bach
