I suppose; but, personally, I feel the "mission" is much more radical than what you're suggesting. You do realize, I'm sure, how COMPLETELY out of context "BL"/"GL" is in American society. (I put "BL," etc., in quotations since I believe these are artificial distinctions and concepts; they are society's way of boxing and limiting and controlling; if, for instance, a person sees himself/herself as "gay" or "straight" or "BL," fine, but that really, in my mind, is only a socially-defined narrowing and excluding of one's entire sexual reality.) There is absolutely no social or relational basis for manifesting or maintaining BL/GL desires in contemporary society, except perhaps as a sub- or, better yet, as a counterculture, either of which do not really exist at the present time. When you and others assert, "BL is fringe and there is a purpose for me," I hope that we all see the implications of that. I hope it makes us realize and challenge ALL of the cultural and social presuppositions, conditions, which make BL/GL ostracized and hated. There are REASONS why society makes practically anything outside of the "adult"-heterosexual-monogamous norm as deviant. For one, BL/GL, etc., is revolutionary and threatens the foundations of a culture which needs a frustrated/con- trolled love instinct in order to sustain its insane system of commodity capitalism. Actually, society really does not want love around; it will take mechanized sex, prostitution, and "defined love," of course. But love unpredicatably transcends boundaries, whether of race, belief, age, or even familial status, and absolutely free love makes one alien to being an automaton--the blind, unthinking soldier, worker, procreator. Since one finds fulfillment in love, psychic dependence on products, "consumerism," and all the trash corporations say we "need" disappears. I believe that God/Life is calling people who find themselves with affections and honest desires outside of the social mainstream to do more than to accomodate their lives within the "aion" (--"system of things"). We are here to see ourselves as more (much more!) than what society tells us we are. We are here to challenge and hopefully replace this evil, self-destructive culture. We are here to help advance the "kindgom"--that is, the worldwide community of love, peace, and equality. |
