Colorado residents should write their state legislator, state senator, and governor. When writing your state legislator, ask that legislation be introduced to make sure ALL children who are taken into custody for any reason are treated age-appropriately and with the least restrictive means possible. When writing the Governor, ask him to consider a pardon. In Raul's county, it is obvious that the help he would receive by being found responsible outweighs the harm which would be inflicted on him by being under the care of the juvinille justice system. Also, it will earn the governor political points and give him a quick exit from a sticky situation. EVERYONE ELSE (me included): Write your legislator or MP asking that your country or state make sure its police use extreme care when taking children into custody, as to not have a repeat of the Wuthrich case. -David ("d") |
