Confessing sins is like making a to-do list - it focuses the mind (and heart) on what is being confesses and on WHO the confessions are to. This focus is a big help in helping "go and sin no more." In Alchoholics Anonymous, the recovering alchoholics are encouraged to admit daily "I am an alchoholic". In group settings, they admit this to each other. Everyone in the group KNOWS everyone else is an alchoholic, but they go through the exercise anyways. Why? To provide some focus. Disclaimer: I've never been to an AA meeting, this is just what I've heard. On being judged by our acts: We are judged by our acts, but we are saved by His Grace. A microgram of grace trumps a zillion tons of bad acts. -David ("d") |
