I have always been very uneasy about that show. I haven't seen it for 2 years, but its formula at that time was simple: a bad person or bad people do something terrible, arousing the viewer's anger, then Chuck Norris satisfies the viewer's desire for revenge by beating them up. I felt the message seemed to be very unChristian: we are the good people, and it's those other people who are evil, and we must use violence to stop them and solve the problem of evil. I hope Chuck Norris's new-found faith is one that realizes that we all have evil within us, and we are called to overcome it in ourselves and others through the love of Christ. If his show changes radically, it could be a positive influence. Mark |
