Let's face it, the Texas Ranger is an American archetype: independent, unflinching in the meting out of justice, gruffly heroic. Too bad it's the antithesis of the Gospel. While I was studying theology a few years ago, the rumour went around that Alice Cooper had become a Christian and was actually studying at Moody Bible Institute. I never did get confirmation of that. Had anyone else heard about it? One guy bought the latest album, which was spiritual enough in a vague sort of way that a Christian reading of the lyrics was possible. Lost coins, lost sheep, lost sons: there's rejoicing when any one of them are found, but Alice Cooper sounds too good to be true. (Although apparently his dad is / was a Lutheran minister.)
