Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

True enough, but I cannot claim to be "made perfect in love." God isn't finished with me yet. :^)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Isn't it ironic that this was written by the same person who told the Corinthians that "I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling"? (1 Corinthians 2:3) Totally different context, though. I'm just being silly now.

Incidentally, there's another verse which strikes me as being relevant to your point, although I'm so tired now I can't explain why.

Hebrews 2:14-15 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

(sigh) I shoulda been in bed hours ago. Hopefully I'll see you in a couple of days.

Dirk
