Hi Chris,

I once heard another BL from BC talk about his upbringing in a Baptist church, and he made some weird comment about how Christians preach "human sacrifice and cannibalism"! Bizarre how his childish perceptions made it out into something like that. I presume he was referring to this bit about Jesus and the Last Supper, "this is my body" etc, and got the meaning of it mixed up. Maybe I should ask him about it some time.

I think the explanation you gave here for the body&blood stuff makes good sense. It's all about becoming one with Christ, or something like that, it's an intimate thing. I think you also get the sense there of providing life. You get "life" from bread, so when Jesus is saying we have to "eat" his body, he's meaning that we get life from him when we accept him.

The passage that Compassion mentioned in John 6 also carries these ideas well too. v54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life, v56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. (heh, now I'm quoting the KJV too ;) It just happens to be the one on my computer, so I can just cut-and-paste :) )

Chris, thanks for initiating these bible studies. It's great for all of us, and a good way to help the Board out of it's "slothful" periods, too.

bye now!
