Hello Zip,

Welcome to the family that shares your struggles and the world-wide club to those who know they can't make it alone. Admiting that is a great step in itself, Zip, and, so you'll know, I have to do it daily. Sometimes I post about it here. Writing it out certainly helps. Also, I talk to people, online and in real life about struggles of faith. That helps even more. Consider the best remedy for any doubt of faith is to put your ideas out of your head and somewhere else, be it in prayer, on a discussion board, in conversation, or, if you aren't offended by it, even to yourself, out loud if necessary. You'd be surprized at what you say and the clarity it gives you to sound out your thoughts.

If thougts and temptations are what ails you, the same solution works--get them out of your head and on the floor to be reckoned with. Some may call this confession. The greatest way to go is to give these temptations over to God. I can pray for you, and I will. Others can pray for you, but it is also the merit to pray for yourself. Talk directly to God, strike up a conversation like you would with your best friend. I promise you that God wants nothing more than that level of relationship and more with you.

God gives us that hole in our faces called the mouth for more than just eating. It can be a great tool and a powerful one if we use it. I know speaking to something that is in our minds sounds a bit rediculous at first, but consider how Christ handled each temptation he was faced with. He verbally rebuked it, and in every example I know of biblically and personally, rebuking a sinful thought or act in the name of God works wonders. Try it sometime; the next time you feel the urge to look lustfully in the newsgroups, state "In the name of Jesus be gone sinful deed." and see what happens.

Let us know and, again, welcome to CBLF.

Prayerfully yours,
Oliver
