There is nothing in the world wrong with voluntary school prayer. And since it is not organized, no one needs to choose whether it will be catholic or methodist or presbyterian. Or whatever. I still cannot figure out why there are people out there that would be opposed to a simple moment of quiet meditation and reflection at the beginning of the school day. If a child chooses to pray during that time, so be it. If he or she chooses to sleep, so be it. But it should be offered. One has to admit that when there was prayer in schools, there was not a high teen pregnancy rate, drug use rate, and high rate of violence. Does that have anything to do with prayer in schools? You decide. Regardless, God is there in the classroom. He is with us always. Cherub |
