Don't you read your bible?

I have on occasion!

Thirty-five years ago I started teaching a junior high Sunday School class, and soon after that I used the courses: "the Gospel Story of Jesus" and "The Old Testament for Us."

What you assume about me comes across very negatively and doesn't encourage further discussion.

Of course, the statement above also might come from frustration and urgency!

Love is a term associated with a broad range of feelings, relationships and actions, but my understanding of love from a Christian perspective is that genuine love involves respect for self and other. Most people think of agape as other-oriented, or self sacrifice. For many minorities, the "Christian" emphasis may be on loving yourself so that you can love others!

My previous point about the pastor's letter on the website is that the mission of that church seems to be "make war," albeit, for morality. I have visions of the Inquisition! Jesus said, "Go and make disciples ...". And though it may not have been implicit, "in love," I think, is implied.
