Hi Fod,

Many times I feel that the reason you are unable to make your point with a pastor is because he is so steeped in the traditional teaching of the church (which is not necessarily God's truth) that he is unable to hear what you are saying to him. I have likened it to someone trying to talk on the telephone while they're in a crowded bar or at a noisy party. There is just so much noise (tradition) that it's impossible for them to hear what is being said on the other end of the line. Accepting assumptions is really reinforcing traditional positions. If a new and more enlightened position is to be attained, then old postions, as in any battle, must be abandoned, and assumptions discarded.

I don't know how much clearer the Bible could be on the reason for the destruction of Sodom & Gemorrah. It plainly states that it was because of their wickedness. Love is not condemned in any way, shape or form anywhere in the scripture, whether it be homosexual, heterosexual or transgenerational. Lust and wickedness are condemned, which is exactly why these two cities were destroyed.

And, as you so aptly stated, sexually transmitted diseases are spread as the direct result of promiscuous sex and lust, and not by love in a mutually caring relationship, no matter what the gender or age difference or similarity.

I can see no harm in keeping the communication line open, if you feel up to the task, as long as he is willing to talk. Sometimes we feel we are stuck in a rut and can't get anywhere, but as my father used to tell me when we were trying to get somewhere in our car and became bogged down in the snow, "As long as you can move a little, you ain't stuck."

Andy
