For me celibacy is abstaining from actual sexual contact with anyone else. Masturbation (autoeroticism) is something I do from time to time....the frequency grows lesser as my age grows greater :-) It usually involves pleasant memories or fantasies based on memories.

Sexual thoughts and desires are no longer a threat to me as they were once, but they do have to be put in perspective or "stepped over" in order to keep them from assuming an importance greater than they should have.

I currently have relationships of varying degrees of closeness with over 50 boys (virtually all of them will come up and give me a hug when they see me) and I no longer feel driven to become "the most important person" in anyone's life. So much of what I felt I had to do or to be was a needless effort to justify my own existence. Freedom from that need has changed my life for the better. The old bugaboos of wanting continual acceptance and reassurance still crop up every day, but they've no longer got the power over me they once had.
