Hi,

How necessary is "necessary"? One could argue that masturbation, or the relief of a drive which is the most fundamental of our basic instincts, is as "necessary" as excretion. If not doing it drives you nuts, it could be because it was an addiction - or because it's fundamental to your wellbeing!

On the other hand, crying can be considered "unecessary" but I would encounter few people who would say that we should all stop crying.

Personally I don't understand why masturbation is a sin. Spermatozoa have a life of three days before they're flushed out in urine; this is a fact that can be verified by any Christian or non-Christian with a bottle of piss and a microscope. Furthermore we all shed more skin cells and blood cells in a day than we would spermatozoa in a single ejaculation - broken-down dead blood cells (bilirubin) is mostly what makes our shit brown. So what's the big deal? More interestingly - a woman doesn't shed any cells through orgasm. Is it OK for her to masturbate but not for a man?

Or if you don't believe in science, take it from a theological standpoint. God would hardly expect us to have sex once a day if we're only allowed a single partner. It makes for bankrupted families and bad health for the poor woman. So what's the deal with placing a desire in us to do it as frequently as we do?

Things to consider.

The whole issue is really quite bizarre.
