, but I am bound by scripture to share God in the best way I know how.

just how did that happen? did you sign an agreement? is it implicit in birth? am I bound by the same cord?

"Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105

"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads." Deuteronomy 11:18

"Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8

As a believer, I trust in the authority of God's word as outlined in these and similar scripture. The Bible also tells me to share the Good News with others. Jesus commanded this in the Great Comission:

"Go therefore and make desciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the end of the Age." Matthew 28:19,20

I am bound to the authority of the Bible because I am instructed by it. I believe in it, and I live by it. I was not born believing in the Bible, but I choose to be bound by it now that I do believe in it. There is no way I am worthy to "sign a contract" for salvation; that's why Jesus signed it for me by his sacrifice of death. If you don't believe in the Bible then, no, you would not be bound by it.

if free will is the cornerstone of god's dominion over us, how is it that we can be bound by words whose origins are rooted in both murky deified mystery and clear human deciet!

One word: faith

your post on speedos on bC, btw, seems to conflict with being "...bound by scripture to sahre god in the best way I know how...".

My post was not on speedos, although I mentioned the origin of speedos in that post. I simply mentioned a new fad of swimwear and discussed the issues associated with it. It was not intended as a witness or religious post; it was simply a means to point out some social issues I find intriguing. Perhaps you could clarify for me how casual conversation qualifies as conflicting with being bound by scripture.

each of us must find his own way.

I agree. In sharing my beliefs, I witness how God is present in my life, not yours. Only you can know that and only you should be qualified to give testimony to it. God has changed my life, and that is the story I share with others. What temperment it gives to each who hears it is on God's good humor.

In Him,
Dunston
