Maybe it's a problem of culture - being blessed with the cultural reserve of those of being English, I struggle with the 'in the face approach' of lots of Christians who hale from the colonies :=) But given that the record of the American church in terms of reaching their people is far better than us over here, maybe we've got a lesson to absorb from this approach; after all John Wesley had little of the reserve that we value so highly! Thank you for the challenge - my 19 year old straight and non Christian YF (for lack of a better term) is about to bless you Americans with his presence for the next 3 months selling books and CDs door to door - and one of my hopes is that he will be exposed to a different 'take' on Christianity from the one that he has been exposed to for most of his life, and which has failed to capture him. Do pray for him. And if someone turns up on your doorstep with an English accent trying to sell you such items, be nice to him!! |
