I don't know your views on God, but it's a humble position to take.

God's reported actions in the Old Testament in no way seem to portray him as holy or just. I am convinced that it is no wonder we have records of such atrocities considering the nature of the times. However the New Testament is very confusing because it outlines God's ultimate mercy and God's ultimate hatred in the same Gospel. On the one hand we have Jesus, the Lamb, and on the other hand we have eternal torment, which God previously had not even imagined. It is as if the deity has some form of multiple personality disorder, each tendency getting increasingly higher the further forewards we go in time. The God of the bible is so unbelievably human it's unfathomable, in my opinion, that he can be worshipped under a literal definition.
