It is just as wrong to say that all bad things happen in the world due to sin. To say that would mean only bad sinful people get sick or got hurt/killed in the 2004 tsunami or whatever.
I must admit, I have relied on a belief -- that I might have been taught, but never really questioned -- that original sin (from Adam) ushered in all forms of "bad" into the world (to put it very simplistically). That being said, regardless of whether that belief is right or wrong, I would NEVER presume (as you assert above) that only bad/sinful people get sick/hurt/killed (and good people are healthy/blessed/prosperous). As I see it, the effects of (original) sin impact everyone (and the entire world), regardless of any personal sin (or personal goodness). Of course, those who live sinful lifestyles could well bring upon themselves "bad" things by virtue of their actions (e.g. gang members are probably more likely to die in gang-related shootings than non gang members). But that's different. That's just basic cause and effect. [It's not God (or karma :-) punishing someone for their sin.] Blessings, Rainboy |
