Sad story but what a marvelous lesson.
I have enjoyed the company of my yf almost every day for the last 5 yrs. I am fortunate that we are still such good friends, and will always remain so, especially as my AOA is for 11yr olds.
After his 16th birthday, we agreed that I would not pick him up any more (30 miles a day = 54750 miles and more)! Though he still manages to get to see me 2 or 3 times a week. I was very touched when he sent me a text each night to say good night.
